Field crews may move between blocks, entrances and properties during a season. Share the active work areas, number of workers, shift length and field access instructions. We’ll plan toilets, handwashing and service visits around where the crew will actually be.
For orchard and field properties around Visalia, Exeter or Lindsay, give us the usable gate and a recognizable entrance location. A mailing address alone may point to an office instead of the field.
California field sanitation planning
California Title 8 section 3457 covers agricultural field sanitation. Its baseline includes toilets for every 20 employees or fraction of each sex and one handwashing facility for every 20 employees or fraction, with specified exceptions and conditions. Facilities generally must be within a quarter-mile walk of the work area; the rule addresses terrain that prevents this placement.

Soap-and-water handwashing belongs in the same plan as toilet access. Give our team the daily usage and any changes in workforce so we can arrange water replenishment, pumping and supplies. Separate drinking-water arrangements are also part of the employer’s field sanitation responsibilities.
Make the service route workable.
- Identify gate locks, farm roads and the route that service vehicles should use.
- Keep equipment out of irrigation paths and active vehicle movements.
- Tell us about soft ground after irrigation or rain.
- Schedule relocations before crews move to another work area.
Scale with the season.
